Autumn Crumble

As Autumn approaches with gusto, don’t be downhearted by the cold and damp weather, just think warm cosy fires and hearty, flavoursome food!

This bonfire weekend, team Amefa took a relaxing wander around the beautiful Peak District to forage for plump blackberries for this delicious Blackberry & Bramley apple crumble.

Enjoy this super quick and affordable recipe that is sure to put a smile on any face this cold Autumn.

  • 120g plain flour
  • 50g margarine
  • 2 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1-2 tbsp demerara sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Bramley apples
  • 2 handfuls of foraged blackberries
    (part boil all fruit for 5 minutes)
  • 1-2 tbsp honey
  • Custard or ice cream, to serve


  1. Heat your oven to 200C/180C fan/gas mark 6.
  2. Sift the flour into a bowl and add the margarine.
  3. Using a fork or your hands, mash together the margarine and flour until it looks like breadcrumbs with no lumps of margarine left.
  4. Add the oats, sugar and cinnamon to your mixture.
  5. Core the apples and wash the blackberries.
  6. Par boil all fruit for 5 minutes, keep the skins on for added flavour and vitamins.
  7. Once par boiled, strain the water away and layer the fruit into an ovenproof dish.
  8. Drizzle the layered fruit with honey.
  9. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the fruit.
  10. Bake for 20-30 mins until the crumble topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
  11. For an added festive flavour add a few drops of vanilla essence to your fruit mix and a sprinkle of powdered cinnamon to the crumble.
  12. Serve with custard or ice cream.
