Homemade Dog Biscuits

Healthy, affordable and homemade.

Treat your dogs to one or all of these healthy and homemade dog biscuit recipes. Quick and simple to make, perfect for doggy rewards or just when they're looking cute with their puppy dog eyes.

Amefa & Richardson Sheffield teamed up with local business owner Sam, owner of
Fetch Club and her dog Roxy to create some mouth-watering, healthy and homemade dog biscuits, ideal for your wallet, puppies learning tricks or keeping your older dogs happy.

Each of these recipes take no longer than 15 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to bake.

Peanut Butter & Bacon Bones

Peanut Butter & Bacon Bones

Ingredients:

  • 300g wholemeal flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 280g unsalted natural peanut butter
  • 200ml skimmed milk
  • 200g bacon

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C and grease 2 baking trays.
  2. In a medium bowl mix the flour and baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the peanut butter and milk. Once mixed well, add the flour mixture and combine.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll out dough to ¼ inch thick and cut out using a bone shaped cookie cutter.
    (You can hand carve into any shape if you fancy a challenge!)
  5. Place on your baking trays and bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before serving to the lucky pups in your life.

TIP: You can freeze any leftover dough for future dog treats.

Beef & Banana Bites

Ingredients:

  • 200ml beef stock (2x cubes), cooled
  • 300g wholemeal flour
  • 125g corned beef, diced
  • 1 chopped banana
  • 1 egg

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C and grease 2 baking trays.
  2. Mix together all of the ingredients and knead for 1 – 2 minutes whilst still in the bowl.
    This is a particularly sticky dough so add more flour if required.
  3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead again. Roll out the dough to a 1cm thickness.
  4. Use a cookie cutter or knife to shape your mixture. 
  5. Place on your baking trays and bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before dishing these tasty treats up!

Roxy Treat

Turkey & Cranberry Christmas Nibbles

Ingredients:

  • 230ml chicken stock (1x cube), cooled
  • 450g wholemeal flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 125g cooked turkey (we used turkey slices)
  • 100g dried cranberries
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 egg

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C and grease 2 baking trays.
  2. Mix the flour and baking powder together, then stir in the turkey and dried cranberries.
  3. Make a well in the mixture and crack the egg into the centre. Add the oil, half the chicken stock and mix into a soft dough.
  4. If the mixture is too dry, add small amounts of the remaining stock until the dough is of a workable consistency.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll out to a 1cm thickness.
  6. Cut into shapes using a knife or cookie cutter. Add an extra festive touch with a christmas tree or snowman cookie cutter shape!
  7. Place on your baking trays and bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before dishing these tasty treats up!
